Drop Professionals FAQs
About Drop Professionals
1. What is Drop Professionals (“Drop”)?
Drop is a geolocation-based app designed to enhance networking at professional events, transforming a crowded room into a live feed of attendees.
2. How does Drop work?
When an event partners with Drop, we create a dedicated event space with a unique access code. Attendees join the event to see a live feed of other attendees around them — with people closest appearing at the top. From there, they can use event-specific filters to customize their feed and tap to connect.
3. How easy is it to implement into our event?
Drop requires no changes to your existing programming or infrastructure. You simply share a few details with us (e.g., event name, venue location, event date) and we handle the rest. We’ll create your event space, provide a unique event ID for attendees, and set up admin access for your team.
4. How is Drop different from LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is built for online networking. Drop is built for real-world connection. You’re investing time, money, & energy to be in the right room… we make sure you meet the right people.
5. Is Drop another event management app?
No. While most event apps focus on schedules, maps, and logistics, Drop focuses on what matters most during the event: helping attendees actually connect with the right people.
6. Does an event need to partner with Drop for me to use it?
Yes — Drop is customized for each event. If you’d like Drop at your next event, please email info@dropprofessionals.com
7. Is Drop only for in-person events?
Yes — the full value of Drop is unlocked at live, in-person events.
8. How do I know if an event is using Drop?
Your event organizer will notify attendees ahead of time or provide a check-in access code at the event.
Privacy and Security
9. When does Drop collect my location?
Location is only collected while you are checked into an active event.
10. Will people be able to see my location?
No — your exact location is never shown to other users. Drop only shows your profile to other attendees within the same event.
11. Should I have my location preference set to “Always Allow”?
“Always Allow” enables you to show up on other attendees’ Explore pages even when you’re not actively using the app, attracting more connections during your event.
12. What about times where I don’t want to be discoverable?
You can easily toggle your discoverability on or off at any time in your settings.
13. How quickly does my discoverability status update?
Toggling off your discoverability will immediately remove you from new searches on the Explore page.
14. What information is visible on my profile?
You control what appears on your profile, including your photos, bio, profile details, and linked socials. You can update or remove information at any time.
15. What’s the difference between a Public and Private profile?
With a private profile, only your connections and users you have sent a request to will be able to see your full profile (social links, bio, profile details). Both Public and Private profiles appear to nearby attendees.
16. Can I block or report someone?
Yes — if you find someone has violated our community guidelines, you can block or report them within the app, and our team will review the issue promptly.
17. How does Drop handle my data?
We only collect information necessary for the app’s functionality and to provide the best user experience. You can read our full privacy policy [here].
Features and Uses
18. How does the Explore page algorithm work?
We keep it simple — attendees closest to you appear first on your Explore page.… that’s it.
19. Can I tailor who shows up on my feed?
Yes — utilize event-specific filters on your Explore page to be intentional about who you’d like to network with.
20. How do event filters work? Who creates them?
Filters are event-specific and created in partnership with event organizers to help attendees tailor their networking.
21. Will a user be notified if I view their profile or social links?
No — users will only be notified when you send them a connection request or message.
22. What happens after I connect with someone on Drop?
Once connected, you’ll have access to each other’s socials and messaging so you can continue the conversation beyond the event. Your connections will also appear on your Explore page with a ring around their profile so they stand out at future events.
23. Will a user be notified if I decline their connection request?
No — only accepted requests will lead to a notification. If you decline a request, you’ll no longer appear on each other’s Explore pages.
24. Is Drop only useful during an event?
No — events end but connection continues; While the Explore page is only active during the event, you’ll still have access to all your connections, messaging, and a list of event attendees so you can continue sending requests and networking beyond the event.
25. Can I join an event if I’m not attending?
No — when you arrive, Drop recognizes you're inside the event radius and activates the Explore page.
